The SPADE^TM Defense Index is an RIC compliant, fund-friendly index that was designed to be used by financial institutions and investors as a benchmark for a wide range of financial instruments including options, futures, warrants, and other derivative products as well as exchange traded funds, UITs, and conventional mutual funds.

A license is required for institutions that offer index-linked products or who use the Index to market their products.

Licenses are also required by organizations selling commercial products based on this Index.
